Carmen Poon, Ph.D.

Dr. Carmen C. Y. Poon graduated from the Engineering Science (Biomedical) Program at University of Toronto (U of T) and obtained her master degree from a collaborative program offered by the Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering and Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, U of T. She completed her Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering (Biomedical) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she is now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery. She served as the Managing Editor for IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (2009-2016) and AdCom of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) (2014-2016). Carmen is a Senior Member of IEEE.  She serves as the Chair of the IEEE-EMBS Technical Committee of Wearable Sensors and Systems, and Associate Editor of IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics and Information Fusion.  Her research interests include wearables and unobtrusive sensing, surgical and endoluminal technologies, and health informatics.  She receives the IFMBE/IAMBE Early Career Award in 2015.
